One of the responsibilities of riding a motorcycle is to make sure you’re wearing the proper gear every time you hit the road. The right accessories are important for safety, comfort, and style! Whether you’re a new rider or you’re looking to upgrade your current gear, our team at Harley-Davidson® of Fargo has put together a list of must-have riding accessories.

1. Gloves

Your hands play a crucial role in the safety and comfort of your ride. It’s important to have a good grip on the handlebars for the entirety of your trip! A good pair of riding gloves can improve your grip and also protect you from harsh wind and weather. For example, gloves can prevent sunburn during long rides in the sun.

Gloves can also protect your hands in case of an accident, reducing painful cuts or scrapes.

2. Riding Shoes

So, you’re protecting your hands, but what about your feet? Proper riding shoes are also important for grip and protection. If you need to purchase a specific pair of shoes or boots, you should allow time to break them in before taking them for a spin.

It’s also important to consider safety when you select a pair of shoes. For example, if there are laces involved, make sure they can be secured to avoid any tangling or tripping when you need to make a stop.

3. Outerwear

It’s helpful to wear appropriate clothing and outerwear every time you ride. Although it can be tempting to wear shorts and a t-shirt, you may actually be more comfortable wearing a riding jacket.

Having more fabric on your skin will help protect it from harsh weather, wind, and sun. You can also choose materials that are moisture-wicking to absorb sweat and offer more ventilation!

4. Helmet

The most important accessory a rider should have is a helmet. There are several styles available to suit you, but the most important aspect is how much protection it provides. A motorcycle helmet should be crash test rated and designed to withstand blunt impact. If a helmet is compromised, it will need to be replaced, but you can expect a helmet to last five years.

5. Eye Protection

Some helmets will include a shield to protect your eyes, but it may be necessary to purchase separate eyewear. You’ll want to make sure your selection will work with your helmet! Look for features like UV protection, anti-glare or transition lenses for even better protection.

6. Neckerchief

You may notice that the back of your neck is left exposed between your helmet and jacket. Wearing a neckerchief, or bandana, around your neck will protect from sun, sweat, and weather!

Having the right accessories for every ride will make your riding experience even better. Our team would love for you to visit us in West Fargo, ND, to view our inventory! We proudly serve Grand Forks and Jamestown.
